According to her husband she got cancer and moved to Nicaragua where her brother (a practicing doctor) was treating her for cancer. She did not live very long after moving back to Nicaragua and they submitted a death claim. The husband called me several times and we conversed about how to get the death claim paid as quickly as possible.
Over the span of about a month the death claim finally got paid after the company had received contestability papers and other required documents to pay out the death claim. After the dust settled my customer said he may be interested in getting a policy for himself in the near future.
6 months later I went back to his home to give him a surprise visit to try and sell him some insurance. He was a little bit beside himself when I showed up and was acting strange. As I was sitting and talking to him about insurance and sharing with him my condolences for his deceased wife, out of the back of the kitchen guess who I saw? His 'DECEASED' wife!!!
I asked him, "When did you get remarried?" He responded that he had not remarried, but rather, she was his girlfriend.
To be honest, I was a bit on edge. This was a ghetto part of town and I was not sure if the gentleman viewed me as a threat for him going to prison. For this reason I simply play dumb.
I am positive it was the same woman who I'd written the policy on a year and a half earlier. I called the company to report the fraud and the company said that they found that interesting. Apparently he called after receiving and cashing the death claim check and said somebody had stolen his death claim money and he wanted the company to send him another $5000 to cover expenses.
You cant make this crap up!
